Andrew Wood is a veteran marching arts educator, clinician, musician, and music/drill composer with more than 20 years of experience in the marching arts. As a performer, educator, and consultant, Andrew has worked with organizations across three countries and has developed a reputation for excellence in marching technique, visual performance, body movement, brass pedagogy, and program design.
Andrew began his teaching career in 2004 as a Marching Technique and Body Movement Specialist Consultant. Since then, he has served as a visual consultant and instructor for numerous marching organizations. In 2007, he joined the Blue Devils “C” Drum and Bugle Corps as a Visual Concept and Marching Instructor and Brass Hornline Instructor. He later served as a Marching and Visual Concept Instructor for the Blue Devils “B” Drum and Bugle Corps in 2010 and 2011, contributing to championship seasons that included BDB’s second and third DCI World Champion titles, DCI Open Class Visual Performance and General Effect titles, and a DCI Fan Network Choice Award.
Andrew has also served as Visual Caption Head for Weber State Indoor Percussion, helping the ensemble earn back-to-back Outstanding Visual Caption awards at the Intermountain Percussion Association Championships. He has trained multiple Drum Corps International Drum Majors of the Year, including the 2010 honorees for both Open and World Class, as well as two additional recipients in subsequent years.
After earning three DCI World Champion titles with the Blue Devils “B” Drum and Bugle Corps in 2009, 2010, and 2011, Andrew moved to Utah to further his study of music education at Weber State University. During and after his time at Weber State, he expanded his musical experience through performance, arranging, and education. In 2016, he became an arranger and performing member of the High West Music ensemble. He has also performed with professional wind ensembles, orchestras, and ballet companies, served as a high school percussion program director, and performed as principal trumpet in the Guard Reserves.
From 2016 through 2025, Andrew served on the instructional staff of The Battalion Drum & Bugle Corps, working extensively with both the brass and visual programs. His work focused on developing performers through strong technical foundations in brass performance, marching technique, body movement, and visual performance, while helping the corps continue to grow artistically and competitively.
Today, Andrew remains active as a teacher, musician, educator, clinician, and music/drill composer in Central Texas. His work combines championship-level marching arts experience with a broad background in music education and performance. He is passionate about developing performers and educators, building technically excellent programs, and helping students and ensembles reach their highest potential.
